CBD, or “Cannabidiol” (ca-nuh-bi-DYE-ol) is an oil extracted from the hemp plant. “Hemp” is defined as a cannabis plant that produces less than 0.3% THC. Hemp was made Federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. Hemp should not be confused with Medical or Recreational Cannabis. Hemp products cannot contain more than 0.3% THC with strict lab testing requirements. Cannabis products typically have >14% THC content.

Because of the low THC content in CBD you will not experience a “high” like you would with Cannabis. However, because there are trace elements of THC in CBD over time you can test positive for trace levels of THC. If you work in an environment where you are regularly tested for drug use, you may want to inquire about CBD with your employer first.
